Cindy, a Grandmother & Retiree
Many people don’t consider a laundry room as worthy of needing order. After all, it’s a small room, and no one but the family goes into it. But small spaces that are used frequently really benefit from order and pleasant aesthetics. The better a room looks and functions, the more willing we are to go into it and do the work we need to do. This laundry room had gotten into some disarray over the years. It didn’t take much time at all to make a big difference in this space.

Janet, a Business Owner
Moving is difficult under normal circumstances. With added challenges, the difficulty increases monumentally. What if you needed to sort and declutter in anticipation of a move, but you were currently working several states away? That’s exactly the situation we were able to work through with this client.

Steve, a Retired Minister
The main purpose of a garage is for parking your car. A second purpose is storage. When the storage becomes more important than parking the car, which is very common, it takes some work to remedy the problem. But it’s definitely worth the effort!

Gail, a Grandmother
This client had multiple generations of family photos that were being stored in numerous locations. Some were in albums, some in boxes, some in envelopes, and some in frames. As a result, the photos usually just stayed in their relative locations, and they weren’t being used. The wonderful result of our organizing was that soon after we got them in order, at an extended family gathering, everyone looked at the album, and the client and her husband told stories about their childhood and early adulthood that their children and grandchildren had never heard.

Sharon, A Nurse Practitioner
After a home renovation, it’s sometimes difficult to decide the best way to set things up in a new space. Sharon and her husband had hired someone to remodel their master bathroom. Now that the work was completed, she needed some help deciding how to best arrange all of the small appliances, toiletries, and makeup. We decided to work on this project virtually.

Marilyn, a Social Worker and Mother
This client and her family and friends had been working hard to declutter their homes in preparation for a garage sale. Marilyn had the perfect location, plenty of tables, and all the supplies she needed. She had even scheduled a date for the sale. What she didn’t have was time to set everything up. As a working mother of a toddler, free time is in short supply.

Kellie, a Fitness Fanatic
Going to the gym to teach and take group exercise classes is a huge part of this client’s life. When the COVID pandemic forced gyms to close, she and her adult children now temporarily living at home all needed space at home to exercise. The room with the most potential to become an exercise space was currently used to store items needed for outdoor activities. A pegboard on the wall for life jackets, portable chairs, tote bags, and other items had worked for a while and was a handy spot. However, it had become so full of items that it was difficult to find what was needed. There was no way to keep all of these supplies in this area and also turn it into a functional and aesthetically pleasing exercise space.

Amy, a Seamstress
Amy and her husband had been repurposing rooms in their home, and that meant moving the sewing room to a new location. Since she does a lot of sewing, I wanted to make sure that when we moved everything, it would be set up in a way that maximizes efficiency and makes frequently used supplies easy to access.

Rebecca, a Remote Worker
This client and I worked together twice in two of the common areas of her home, the living room and the kitchen. In the living room, toys and many other items had turned their main hangout area into a stressful space to avoid. With Christmas around the corner, she knew that many toys would need to be donated to make room for new ones as well as just making space so that they could enjoy the room.

Ally, a Home School Mom
When you’re home schooling multiple children, you need a lot of supplies. And if routines aren’t established to keep those supplies in order, it doesn’t take long for them to get into a chaotic and overwhelming state. Add to that a small space for storing all of the supplies, and you’ve got an even greater need to keep things organized.

J & J, New Tri-Cities Residents
When I met this couple, it had been 3 years since their move, and they were tired of looking at those boxes in the attic. The attic had become an area to avoid, and it was time to solve the problem once and for all.

Allison, a Young Professional
This client needed simple solutions for a handful of problem areas in the kitchen. These photos represent a subset of the work that was done that most clearly demonstrate the difference that can be made by grouping items and adding a few inexpensive organizing products.

Rose, a Retiree and Full-time Nana
The kitchen was fairly well organized overall, but a few spaces needed some work. With a very small kitchen such as this one, using space effectively becomes even more of an issue.

Colonial Heights Branch of the Sullivan County Public Library
It took us most of a full day to pull out everything from in front of and inside this large storage closet, sort it, make decisions about what stays and what goes, and to decide the best way to replace items that stayed. Of course, the librarian made all of the decisions about what needed to be kept, and we worked together to determine best placement. Since so many items were taken for donation, we created a lot

Sarah, a Business Owner
It was almost time for the annual Friendsgiving holiday, and this client’s pantry was in dire need of organizing. Her family enjoys hosting an annual Thanksgiving celebration with their friends. With a total of 50 adults and children invited, everything needed to be shipshape in order to pull off an event of this magnitude.

Sandy, an Administrative Assistant
Sandy Vowell with Hillhouse Creative took a big step of faith in entering our Messiest Desk in the Chamber contest. She was courageous enough to admit that she needed help, risk vulnerability in exposing her messy desk, and to trust us all to help her make a change.

Rachel, an Attorney
Nothing can prioritize the need to get organized like putting your house on the market. This client contacted me for some help in making her home show-ready.
